Gordon ended up coming down with the croup over the weekend and was very sick. In fact, on Sunday night, we had a kid sleep in our bed for the first time ever. But he wouldn't settle, he wanted his daddy, and I felt better being able to hear him breathe. It is a scary thing to hear your kid sound like they are choking on their own breath.
Walt also developed symptoms on Sunday night. We took them to the doctor on Monday and he confirmed the croup. We gave Walt steroids, but Gordon was over the hump, so we just waited it out with him. They've all been getting steadily better and seem to just have the typical runny noses/cough residual symptoms at this point.
I kept them home all week from the creche, but this afternoon, since they are on the mend, we went to our friend Emma's 3rd birthday party.
The whole drive over the kids were so excited, telling me over & over that we were going to a birthday party. Even though I don't think they knew what that meant. When we first arrived, they were a little shy. But it wasn't long before they were having a blast.

Play time outside while eating Chicken fingers & french fries. Gordon even tried two bites of a chicken finger. I'm still in shock!

After the savory foods were wiped out, the sweets came to the table. My kids rarely get sweets besides ice cream and to have them in reach was a temptation they couldn't resist. They parked themselves at the table and GORGED. Hmm. Wonder where they get that sweet tooth from?

Ready to blow out the candles!! Lisa has two older boys and told me she enjoyed being able to do pink and girl decorations for a party!

Great job, Emma!
The kids had a fantastic time at the party. They enjoyed playing outside, inside, with other kids, with each other, and even going up the stairs to use the potty. One of my favorite moments was on the way home when Walter took me on a rundown of everything they did at the party. "Eat cookies, play bicycles, play motorcycle (a toy), go hippopotamus potty, Mama eat cake."
I can't believe in only 6 weeks a lot of these same people will be at my house to celebrate Team Berube turning three years old. It is hard to imagine!
