Yesterday the weather continued to be gorgeous, as it has most of the week, so we decided to walk with the kids down the street to O'Donovans and sit on their patio.
Adele had a bit of a fit when we first arrived, but she settled down once she was in the high chair. In fact, she had a great time. I'm drinking a pint of Bulmer's cider
Dad's having a Guinness, which the boys obviously want!
The boys were very content & comfy in the stroller
Gordon was laughing at Mama kisses!
I love having my sweet boy back after not seeing this smile for so long
Super smiley Walt
We walked down to Scoops and I got a scoop of honecomb ice cream. I think I got 2 bites and the kids ate all the rest.
I took the boys to get their hair cut today. They did really well. Walter cried a lot, but he didn't fight. And Gordon acted like it was no big deal at all. In fact, he giggled at the clippers.
When we got home, it was so gorgeous outside, I let the kids out into the yard to play. I had fun taking photos in the sun.
The boys and their cool haircuts
Gordon
Adele and Gordon went straight for the dirt.
Gordon
Walt -- such a big boy
I wanted to take a photo of Adele in front of the flowers blooming on the vine. It took a TON of shots because she was more interested in looking at the rocks than looking at me.
Walt decided he wanted in the photo
My 2nd favorite photo of the 'shoot'
My favorite photo of the shoot
My crazy boys
Gordon had to check out this grass
Walt is always looking for places he can practice walking -- slopes, hills, uneven ground, and steps. Silly boy!
Adele and the view
I just love this next sequence of photos. Walt found the ball and held it up for Gordon. They walked to each other and Walt handed it over. LOL!
Adele LOVES playing in the dirt
Remember what I said about Walt looking for places to practice walking?
Walt stuck his tongue out first, so I just followed suit.
Showing Adele's muddy face. She loves dirt so much she decided to eat some of it.
I mentioned the boys were sick, which includes Jeff. Gordon and Walt are finally better. Yay! But Jeff is still very sick. He went to the doctor today, so hopefully he's on the mend soon. Meanwhile, I caught the head cold a few days ago. But I picked up some medicine today and I can already tell what a big difference it has made.
Because everyone has been so under the weather, we've been doing a bit more lounging and tv watching in the afternoons. Adele always wants to watch Elmo. So I put on a little Sesame Street for the kids. They love climbing into the chairs and onto the couch.
Gordon, totally chillin'
Chair time!
Adele & Walt
Adele & Gordon. As soon as Walt climbed out, Gordon climbed up.
Couch time. They love their books. They pick them up to read aloud all the time.
I've started bathing the kids together every night. Now they are older, I worry less about getting them in and out of the tub safely. Since they use the same bathroom as Jeff and I, I just go in and make sure I move any unsafe items and let them have the run of the bathroom.
A new favorite place to play
They are fascinated by each others' soapy heads
We spend a lot of time, singing and playing in new ways with our toys. We have an ABC chart handed down from a prior neighbor and the kids love to bring that to me and we sing the "ABC" song. They don't know it yet, but I'm starting to hear the formation of the actual letters from their grunts.
They also love when we get the Fisher Price Little People barn and we pull out each animal one by one as we sing Old MacDonald. They are starting to help make the animal sounds and even occasionally say the name of the animal. But everyone's favorite part is 'eee-iii-eee-iii-Oh.' All 3 of them can sing that.
Speaking of which, Walt still isn't talking, but he has started to make true sounds back at me. For example, he now "Moos" for a cow and sings the Old MacDonald line I mentioned above. And it took a few days of practice, but he can now say 'uh-oh.'
Adele and Gordon are speaking more every day. Gordon asked to watch "Baby Signing Time" the other day, by walking around and saying 'baby' as he made the sign. It was so cute! And Adele is starting to put phrases together. Tonight when Walt was getting into the toilet behind my back, I see Adele pointing at him "Said no. Said no. Said no." I guess Mama had already said no!
I took the boys to our new doctor's practice today. Walter just has a virus, but the doctor is concerned he'll get an infection, so she wrote a script for antibiotics that I'm going to sit on and see about fulfilling (per doc's orders). Gordon, however, has an ear infection in both ears. Poor boy! No wonder he is so miserable. Jeff is also sick. *boo* Adele and I seem to be staying healthy for now. Girl power!
I am having flashbacks to February and March of last year. The kids were old enough they were starting to sleep 3-4 hour stretches, but not through the night yet. And I was insanely sleep deprived. That's how I feel now. I don't know how I ever survived the newborn months! I haven't had much sleep since last Thursday and I am feeling the effects.
Here's hoping the antibiotics make a big difference for Gordon, and soon. And here's hoping Walter starts feeling better on his own.
While we waited at the pharmacy for Gordon's prescription, the kids got to try their first-ever lollipops. To say they were a hit would be a big understatement.
Despite the expression, Walt knew what to do right away.
Yum! I had to show Adele she could eat it,
but once she figured that out...
Gordon chomped his
Walt usually goes first to bath, but Adele asked to go, too, so they took a bath together. I would've brought Gordon, too, but last time he freaked out on me. I think I'll wait to try all of them in the bath again when Gordon feels better.
Gotta do the faux-hawk in the bath
Elmo is fun!
You can tell Gordon feels poor-poor
A couple photos from the other day.....
Gordon was *supposed* to be in time out. But Adele and Walt (around the corner) felt differently
Gordon decided to pick up all the toys. One at a time. It was hilarious.
