I have so many photos and videos to post, I'm going to have to break them up into two posts. Again, a lot of these are duplicates from facebook, but I like to bring them all to the blog for my sake as much as anything.
We got our first balloon from the grocery store and it was a big hit. Adele played while Gordon laughed.
Adele has become even more chatty, if that is possible. Here is her latest way to communicate.
I've tried bubbles with the kids before, but they were never interested. However, I brought them out for the first time in months and they loved them. And, look! I exist! I'm actually in this video. *smile*
This is just a fun capture of Adele cracking up. I love that my babies are just as ready to laugh as they are to cry. *smile*
Walter is really good at activating toys. Actually, all of them are, but Walter seemed to pick it up the quickest. This is a new-to-us toy brought over by our neighbor. At the beginning of the video, you can see Walter pushing the buttons. Prior to me pulling out the camera, he would play with the rattle-ball, but as soon as he realized the music had stopped, he'd push the button on the other toy to start it up again.
Gordon learned a new skill. He waves. He's done it on his own a couple of times, but he mostly requires prompting, which includes me holding his hand in the right position. But it is one of the cutest things ever!
Adele is also learning new skills. She's started clapping and loves to show off. Until I pull out the camera, of course.
I took this video this morning. The boys were playing together and I just thought it was a nice 'slice of life' for my days.
Well, the kids and I have almost survived our first time on our own. We pull that off most days when Jeff is at work, but he's always here in the evening to help with baths and bedtime. And often the last solid feeding of the day. But he had an out of town meeting, so he left in the wee hours of Tuesday morning and won't be home until very late tonight. That left the kids and I alone for two full days and one overnight. We survived!
I ended up taking a lot of photos and videos to send to Jeff, so I thought I'd share. Some of these are duplicates from facebook, but not all.
On the first day Jeff was gone:
Walt
Gordon
Adele
Walt decided to actually eat a few of his blueberries instead of spitting them out. So, of course, most of them ended up on his face.
This morning, we did our normal walk. Then the kids go into the play yard so I can do a 5 minute rinse off and change. I came back to find they decided to play together.
This afternoon, I decided to try the pool again. I took Walt out and just held him, but even being near the pool sent him into hysterics. So he decided to stay in the house and bounce instead.
Adele and Gordon had a great time and played for almost half an hour. Don't worry, the porch where Gordon and Adele were swimming is right off the playroom where Walt was bouncing, so I was able to keep an eye on both and they were able to keep an eye on me.
Adele's been banging toys together for a while, but now she does it with delicacy and purpose. She also is fascinated by the different noises. Today she was cracking up when I banged the toys for her.
After cleaning up from pool time, we decided to try something new recommended by some fellow triplet moms. We brought out the laundry basket. I'm sure if Earl had been around, he would've joined in the fun, too. After all, cats love laundry baskets! And now I know, so do babies.
Today we tried out our new kiddie pool. It didn't go so well. Walt freaked out which sent the other two into a frenzy. Jeff took Adele and Walt back into the house while I stayed out with Gordon who was fine once the other two left. Eventually I brought Adele back out and coaxed her into the pool, but she was apt to start crying at pretty much anything. I think they were overtired, but overall, I would say not a success. I'll try again in a couple of days. I did get a few pics while they were playing nicely.
Gordon has had a few new milestones in the last couple of days. He's started saying 'dada' (video below) and waved tonight. He's only waved two or three times, but I'm sure he'll get the hang of it soon.
Gordon has also started army crawling everywhere. He'll even pick up a toy, drop it just out of his own reach, so he can crawl to it.
Adele is clapping, but I haven't been able to capture that on video yet. I did, however, take a moment to video Adele having some quiet time. We've had 3 fussy, teething babies for a number of days and Adele has been the worst. She wants to be held almost constantly, throws fits in the middle of the floor, and is waking up at night very unhappy. Today after the pool debacle all three kids were very unhappy, so we put the boys in the swings in one room and I left Adele in her bouncy in the playroom. She bounced and watched the trees and birds for half an hour. Eventually she fell asleep, but mostly she just had nice, quiet awake time.
The kids are pretty good at independent play (when their teeth aren't aching) and are even starting to play and interact together.
All 3 babies started sitting up this week. They won't sit up on their own. However, if I put a toy in front of them and sit them up, they'll play for a while before maneuvering their way back onto their tummies. I think they've actually been physically capable of sitting for a while, it just isn't something they are interested in doing. Adele is now enjoying her baths sitting up.
I took photos of all three babies showing off their new sitting skills.
Here's Walter
Gordon shows off his new surf shirt.
Adele in her pink bow
Adele clapped for the first time tonight. We've been working on clapping since the babies were tiny little things and it was fun to see one of them finally respond. She was so cute! I wish I could get it on video. Hopefully soon!
