Daddy's almost home

Well, the kids and I have almost survived our first time on our own. We pull that off most days when Jeff is at work, but he's always here in the evening to help with baths and bedtime. And often the last solid feeding of the day. But he had an out of town meeting, so he left in the wee hours of Tuesday morning and won't be home until very late tonight. That left the kids and I alone for two full days and one overnight. We survived!

I ended up taking a lot of photos and videos to send to Jeff, so I thought I'd share. Some of these are duplicates from facebook, but not all.

On the first day Jeff was gone:
Walt
Gordon

Adele

Walt decided to actually eat a few of his blueberries instead of spitting them out. So, of course, most of them ended up on his face.

This morning, we did our normal walk. Then the kids go into the play yard so I can do a 5 minute rinse off and change. I came back to find they decided to play together.

This afternoon, I decided to try the pool again. I took Walt out and just held him, but even being near the pool sent him into hysterics. So he decided to stay in the house and bounce instead.

Adele and Gordon had a great time and played for almost half an hour. Don't worry, the porch where Gordon and Adele were swimming is right off the playroom where Walt was bouncing, so I was able to keep an eye on both and they were able to keep an eye on me.

Adele's been banging toys together for a while, but now she does it with delicacy and purpose. She also is fascinated by the different noises. Today she was cracking up when I banged the toys for her.

After cleaning up from pool time, we decided to try something new recommended by some fellow triplet moms. We brought out the laundry basket. I'm sure if Earl had been around, he would've joined in the fun, too. After all, cats love laundry baskets! And now I know, so do babies.

  1. Now it's time for Basket Rides!!! LOL. Back in the day when disposable diapers came in cardboard boxes, we'd take the empty box, stick the kid in it and pull it around the room. A great time had by all. ;-)

Love Adele's laugh. Terrific pics Joey!

  2. Just don't start swinging them in the baskets. They get heavy quick, and soon they'll start asking for a 'ride' anytime you are folding clothes. :)

  3. Adele has the cutest little laugh. Great video and photos. Babies love laundry baskets full of clean towels and clothes, too. They will throw them around and play with them for quite a while. And eventually they might even learn to help you fold laundry! :)

  4. For some reason big cardboard boxes are THE greatest source of entertainment for kids. I always wondered at the amount of time and fun my kids/grandkids had with them in place of so many expensive toys & gadgets!
