I've said it before, this is SUCH a fun age. Walt is driving me absolutely insane with his willful disobedience, but he's also my best-behaved child most of the time. All 3 of them are developing by leaps and bounds right in front of my eyes.
We've been working on utensils again. Gordon didn't want to try. He just wanted me to feed him.
A little messy, but Walt's got the idea!
She's got this scooping thing down.
We're still doing baths together and the kids love to play, play, play. Tonight (not the night this photo was taken), they soaked me from head to toe having so much fun splashing.
My boys!
We have a lot of dancing and signing parties these days. The kids especially love dancing to The Gigglebellies.
Team Berube dance party!
We also like singing. A LOT.
I brought the chairs back downstairs and we've started using them again. One day we played with puzzles.
We also started eating our afternoon snacks at the table.
Ball pit fun!
In the late afternoon, the kids often ask for Elmo. Gordon was a little down, so I guess Adele climbed up to keep him company.
Feeding the ducks!
We're working on coloring. I love that I can put them at their table to color now. It is SO much easier.
It is hard to believe how naughty this sweet boy can be sometimes.
Well, it was a lot of fun to get away for a while and enjoy being a married couple. But back to the important stuff -- the kids!
This is a fun, fun age. I'm really enjoying my kids and the fact they can listen and understand me. They are also able to communicate back to me more & more every day. They love to walk and it makes my life so much easier around the house. One of their new favorite games is to yell "Ready, Set, Go," and then run like crazy up and down the hall.
Walt loves to sing and dance. His favorite songs include "Happy and you know it," and Laurie Berkner's "We are the dinosaurs." I've also got him *singing* along to a few DVDs. Every day he amazes me more and more with the complexity of instructions he's able to understand. And he's figuring out how to work/play with some of his toys. His favorite thing to do is wash his hands. He must ask to wash his hands about 10 times a day. Of course, the bathroom is behind a kid gate (I keep chemicals nearby) so I think it is more about getting into the forbidden area and playing in the water. That said, when you let him though the gate, he marches right up to the sink and climbs on his little stool.
Gordon's vocabulary is expanding daily. His latest word is 'noooooo.' I know soon enough I will find that word extremely frustrating, but for now I find it adorable. And I love the fact he can express his desires. He still loves playing with balls (usually throw and chase). And he's still my biggest snuggler. He loved having his grandma and grandpa in town because he got lots of extra snuggles.
Adele is a regular chatterbox. She still says so many gibberish words, but more and more of her conversations include real words and concepts.
The most impressive thing is how much her walking has improved. She didn't start really walking until about 18 months. She was such a wide-leg and wobbly-leg walker, I was worried. But she walks very well now. She pretty much refuses to crawl. Her favorite thing ever is still "Elmo." Anytime I ask what they want to watch, that's the answer that Adele gives.
My kids love to dance in and after the bath.
The kids are spontaneously playing together more and more
I sat the kids in a row so that I could take their photo, but the book reading is legitimate. They LOVE to flip through their books and ask us to read them all the time.
Kitty has found a new spot to hang out. Sometimes he even gets food.
The kids love it when we use these little animals as props and sing "Old MacDonald." Walt makes the sign for 'again,' whenever we finish.
Jeff and I had gone to breakfast and the kids were playing in the front window upon our return.
Our itteh-bitteh greeting commiteh
A gorgeous Sunday at the market and feeding the ducks
The ducks come right up to the stroller
A beautiful view
All 3 kids have gotten very good at playing patty cake, but Adele is the only one we've gotten on video yet.
My parents came into town to visit the kids and to do a little sight-seeing. It has been great having extra help and super great having babysitters! So far we've played outside a bunch and gone to Limerick and the Saturday Milk Market. I also snuck away for a spa day with my friend, Nellie, and Jeff and I went out to dinner. Plus, my parents took the boat tour of Lough Derg and said it was very cool.
Enjoying the nice weather, the grandparents took the kids to feed the ducks
Dinner time!
Playing out in the yard
Grandma helps with baths
Enjoying the Goldfish crackers sent by our other Grandma
Walt gives new meaning to the term 'riding bareback.'
Grandpa is hilarious
Since my mom & dad are in town, Jeff and I went out for a pint.
And dinner.
