So tired...

The babies and I are so tired! As they get older they are sleeping less during the day (expected) but they are also waking up more at night. I miss my good night sleepers! I think Adele is still dealing with bad reflux attacks, so I'm taking her back to the doctor. But Walter just seems to want to wake up and eat little snacks -- which wouldn't be a big deal if he was the only baby. However, when I put him down, I know I'll be getting up again soon after to feed another baby.

My sister-in-law came over Christmas while her mom was here and she was a HUGE help. Here is Kim holding Adele.

My mother-in-law was a huge, huge help. She came over Thanksgiving and stayed up through mid-January. I don't know what we would have done without her! Here's a photo we got of all three kiddos with Jeff, his sister, Kim, and his mom, Elaine.

My brother came to visit for a few days and spent most of his time holding Gordon. Matt also got up every night with me at 3am to help feed the babies which allowed Jeff to catch up on some sleep. I just hope we didn't wear out Matt and send him back to his own family too exhausted to do anything!
And here's the latest photo of the trio together:
Walter 11lb 3oz
Gordon 13lb 3oz
Adele 11 6 oz

Gordon was really needy the past few days, but he was also super interactive. He laughed for the first time and smiled like crazy. Here's my adorable little boy.

A few random thoughts...

More like a few random photos. *smile*

As any parent of newborns knows, they change almost daily. And we've seen a lot of changes in the babies in the past couple of weeks. They cry a lot more -- in fact from afternoon onward is a little tough in the Berube household. In general they do pretty well from 11pm until 7am(with a 3am feeding), which is a lot and allows us to get some sleep at night. They are smiling, talking, and interacting with us which is a lot of fun. They focus on us close and at a distance with their gazes. And they are reaching and noticing their toys.

In fact, here's a video of Adele reaching for her Christmas toy.

And here's Adele smiling up at me. She was trying to be cute to make up for the sleepless night she'd given me the night before.

Here's Gordon giving a smile. He's the most interactive with us. But this also means he's the one who wants to be held the most (lately).
My friend LindaT sent blankets for the babies and the timing couldn't have been better. Adele and Walter have become quite the snugglers. Here's Walter with his blankie.

The cats have adjusted very well to the babies. In fact, here are Earl (our baby cat) and Walter all snuggled up for a nap.
Finally, I forgot to post this with the Christmas photos. Our family portrait in front of the tree.
One last note. We took Adele and Walter in to the doctor to talk about their reflux and she agreed the reflux was pretty bad. So we now have them on Zantac and we keep them sleeping and sitting upright 24-7. This means they sleep in their bouncy chairs at night and in a bouncy chair or swing during naps. I think it has already made a difference, specifically with Walter who has grown less fussy. And Adele used to never sleep more than 2 hours at a stretch in her crib and she's gone 3-4 hours at night in the bouncy chair.

Now we're just waiting on our new 8oz bottles to arrive so that we can increase the amount of food we're offering during the day with the hope of helping them sleep longer at night.
