Weekend Getaway - Hotel and Lahinch

After Jeff and I finished our time at the Cliffs of Moher visitor's center, we drove a few kilometers to Liscannor where we'd booked overnight at the Cliffs of Moher hotel. We checked into a nice room, then walked around town for a few minutes to see the various places to eat and to grab lotion from the nearby convenience store. Jeff's face and ears were VERY sunburnt!

We ended up deciding to eat the hotel restaurant and watched EuroCup 2012 as we ate.
Our hotel
The next morning, we drove a few more kilometers to Lahinch. This is a very popular beach town. A number of surfing schools run here and there are many shops, restaurants, and fun places for the kids. The whole day we were at the Cliffs, I was so happy the kids were with my parents. But the day we spent in Lahinch, I wished the kids were with us.
We arrived in the morning and walked up to coastline to check out the ocean. Notice the water is right up to the rocks. We couldn't figure out where they surfed and thought it must be a ways down.

The public parking lot and Lahinch's Sea World.
They had a gorgeous indoor pool, a large play area, and an aquarium.

We watched the swimmers and kids walk down to the water and get splashed.
We asked someone from a surf school and he assured us they surf right here.

A few hours later... This is the SAME beach. See how far the tide moved out? By noon/one o'clock, this place was packed.
We ate lunch at a place overlooking the ocean, then we walked back down to the public parking lot and sat on the rocks overlooking the beach for a while, watching all the people.
It was quite warm, but I left my hoodie on for sun protection.

And there's the surf school!
