Weekend Get Away -- Cliffs of Moher ferry ride and visitor's center
On the way back from the ferry ride from Inisheer on Saturday, our boat first docked at sea to drop off and pick up other passengers. It then headed along the coast line to give us amazing, close-up views of the Cliffs of Moher.

A video I took as we approach the cliffs
We'd moved up to the bow of the boat, which felt like being on a roller coaster.
I couldn't stop laughing! I also couldn't keep my balance.
Below are a few views of the Cliffs that Jeff photographed as we approached.
Here you see O'Brien's tower at the top and the Stack down below.
Another view of O'Brien's tower. This is part of the visitor's center.
The tower is a gift show and you can pay 2E to climb to the top. Not a real ruin.
*laugh*
More me!
The driver turned around just after we passed the Stack and took us back, closer to the coastline.
We were SO close to the cliffs.
I love this photo Jeff caught of the sun reflecting off the Stack.
The most amazing thing about the stack area were the thousands, upon thousands of birds nesting and flying around. They are visible in the photo above, and I managed to capture a video that gets the sound and movement of the birds. They were all around the water, too.
From there we headed back to Doolin, got in the car, and drove to the visitor's center a few kilometers away. The GPS took us on the craziest, back roads route. We ended up on curving, field-surrounded, one-lane roads where we had to back up whenever we met oncoming traffic. To say Jeff had white-knuckles would be putting it mildly. I, however, was able to enjoy the gorgeous scenery and the random ruins we passed along the way.
We loved how the shops at the visitor's center were under the hill
There was a path to the left and right. This path to the left was a sloped path. On the right, they'd actually build wide steps since the slope was much steeper.
This was at the top of the right-hand path, looking back along the cliffs. Everyone was eating ice cream that day. It was such gorgeous weather!
Looking down at the same views we saw from the boat. So different!
Lovely lovely lovely! Very gorgeous scenery indeed. I'm so glad the weather cooperated. Yay!
