Look, Ma, no IVs!

Adele and Walter both had their IVs removed today. By the time we left in the early evening, Gordon had his IV fluids removed and only had the saline lock left. We're are this much closer to having wire-free babies!

Adele had just spent some time in my arms before I took this IV-free photo. She opened her eyes when I asked her to, just in time to snap the pic.

Walter was up and being active when I caught his IV-free photo. He was watching me, fussing, and was happiest when I had my hand on his tummy.

Gordon still has the IV, on his head no less, but he was up at the same time as Walter. I almost feel like they were watching each other! Gordon was also very fascinated by his hands.
I also captured this video of Walter when he was feeling feisty. Jeff saw it and said "Oh, this is completely Walter." This little boy is always grabbing his sensors and his canula and trying to chew on them.

  2. Yay! Love the steady progress they're making. Love the pics and vid!

I have no doubt Walter and Gordon were indeed checking each other out. Was chatting with Molly today, a friend with 10-yr-old boys, and she remembers the first time the twins were on her lap at the same time (they spent six weeks in the NICU). They had eyes only for each other. For at least the first six months or so, any time they could get their arms free of the baby burrito wraps and were close enough, they were reaching for each other. Can only imagine how it will be with your three getting acquainted with their neighbors of 32 weeks...

This is horribly addictive but in a wonderful way. I find myself checking for updates almost as often as checking email. :-)

  3. T- Haha! You sound like me. I was total baby cheerleader last time I was at the hospital. I just couldn't believe they had their IVs off.

Shirley -- One time I was holding Adele and she was dead asleep. But every time one of her brothers made a noise, she turned her head in that direction, just slightly. Like a cat turning its ears. *grin*

  4. Joey, are your babies just simply breathtakingly beautiful or it just cause we're all prejudiced aunties?! *grin*. Look at little Gordon sending us a wave! This gets more Awww-some by the day. Thankyou again (& again & again) for sharing this incredible journey with us.

  6. Supposedly they will also do better if you keep them in the same crib for awhile when you finally get home.
