Got your boogie shoes ready?

Today we hit another milestone by making it to 32 weeks gestation! According to Dr Barry and Dr Gooch this week is one of the most important milestones next to viability (24 weeks) because babies born after this week have many less complications than ones born sooner. Let's all take a minute to do a little chair boogie-wiggle.

I'm not sure if it is obvious in the photos, but my belly has gotten bigger. You can kind of tell by how much further it hangs over my legs/pelvis. According to estimates, the babies should weigh around 4lbs each at this point, but I'm hoping Dr Barry will swing by soon to do another growth scan.

As I mentioned in my last post, since I've stabilized, the doctors aren't planning the c-section for tomorrow, but are letting me go as long as I and the babies can make it. Dr Gooch ran bloodwork yesterday and plans to run more on Saturday. In the bloodwork, Dr Gooch is tracking my liver and kidney functions, but keeping her eye closest on two of my kidney numbers. One is the BUN which has a cut-off of 20. I came into the hospital with it around 11, then I started hovering around 15/16, but with this last bloodwork, I came in at 18. The other is the Creatinine test which has a cutoff of 1. I'd hovered around 0.6 for a while, but was up to 0.8 with this last pull. So my numbers are rising, slowly, but they are rising.

I really appreciate all the sweet cards, e-cards, e-mails and more that I've been sent. I can't stress enough to you how those little things brighten my day tremendously. One of my favorite things has been the flowers I've received. And here's the latest bouquet that arrived from my Uncle Bob and Lisa. The bouquet looks and smells divines and the nurses have all been commenting on it.

Thanks again everyone for all your support and love!

  1. LOL - holy cow Joey!!! Yes you do look bigger. Those babies sticking out in front make the rest of you look so tiny. (grow babies grow!). I'm pulling for them to hang in there... one day at a time. That great big sigh you heard was me sighing in relief that you've gotten to 32 weeks. That is a HUGE milestone! Now is about the time they start to put on weight as opposed to system development (although naturally there is some of that still going on). You are rockin' this thing girl!

Such lovely flowers! And the teeny pumpkins are so cute!

  3. Hmm, that non-popping sound we heard must be you. Are you sure even wiggling is allowed at this point? Woot for making it so far! I can imagine how hard it is to be stuck waiting; just a little while longer now!

(P.S. The new Rainstick Cowbell album is on its way to you. No swearing, so it's okay for kiddos.)

  4. Thanks, T!! I feel HUGE. That's exactly what my doctor told me (about development vs. growth). And at this point every DAY counts. I'd love to get to 33 weeks, but just every day I make it is huge.

    Michelle-- Thanks, sweeties. Hanging tight!

Jess -- I tried to wiggle, but the body didn't cooperate. *grin* As for Rainstick Cowbell, I say "Yay, yay and more yay!!" I love the last album, so he has high expectations to meet.

  5. Joey -- Woot Woot for making 32 weeks!

And okay, your belly is big, but hello, there are a lot of healthy babies in there!

There was a great article on new identical triplets in today's Oregonian. It's probably on oregonlive.com.

Robert and the kitty say hi!

You do look pregnant but that is a good thing LOL!! I will say it pains me to see your poor belly stretched out like that. Especially when the rest of you still looks tiny ;-)

  9. We'll all baby boogie with you, Joey. You are looking good....there are definitely babies in there!! Great that they are all close to four pounds...or more. Every day and every ounce is so important for those little guys and gal. I know you and Jeff are really ready to see them. Can't wait to see them myself! Won't be long now. :0) Hugs.
P.S. Beautiful flowers! And Uncle Steve says "hello" and we are praying for you and the babies. He's heading out the door to work.

  10. Betty -- I'll have to see if I can find the article. Hi back to Robert & the kitty. *smile*

Michelle -- Can I admit the stretching pains me a little too? That part is kinda ouchie.

Rosemary -- Plus I have all the extra placenta & fluid weight! We were trying to estimate how much weight I would lose just with birth and I think we thought maybe 20lbs (?)

Jay -- At least I've found something I'm good at, cooking babies! LOL

  11. Mary -- Hello back to Steve! Thank you so much for everything. I am pretty happy with how the babies are doing. My OB is also really happy with how I've stabilized overall, too. I really hope my MFM comes soon so we can do a measurement and see if they really are the weight we expect. ((HUGS)) back to you & Uncle Steve.
