FOTA Wildlife Park

We woke up and the day was supposed to be decent, so we loaded up the kids in the car and headed to Cork. It was a two hour drive to the FOTA Wildlife park.

The kids have a show we watch a lot where Barney (the purple dinosaur) visits the Ft Worth Zoo. So they know a lot of animals and recognized them right off. It was so fun to see those exhibits through their eyes!

The kids weren't in the best mood when we arrived, but giving them a quick lunch distracted them. Then once we were in the park, they were easily distracted. Getting them in the car to go home was a little tougher, but they were wiped out.

I'm so glad we went and we had a great time. Next time we might head to the Dublin Zoo or, if we get a really nice day, out to the coast!

Little Mama helping to pack up. The boys also had bags. In fact, Gordon unpacked one of my bags and packed what he wanted -- books. *laugh*

We arrived right at lunch time. I decided to feed the kids while we were still in the parking lot and it worked out great.

Watch out! Team Berube on the loose! The park had a nice pathway which helped me with the kids, because I just told them to 'stay on the sidewalk.' This is an instruction they know how to follow.

We stopped at the cafe at the far end of the park so Jeff and I could eat. The kids had a blast running around. Gordon kept going up to other tables. I decided he must be interviewing new families!

Sticks and trees! I walked around with the kids in the area just around the cafe as Jeff finished his lunch.

It amazes me how well they stay in a group right now and when one of them gets separated, we say "let's go find your sister/brother" and they come along. I hope they don't outgrow this because it allows us to do a lot of fun stuff.

Jeff taking a photo of the kids at the giraffe area. We had the strollers and the kids sat in them about half the time. The other half, they walked around.

It was a close call as to what the kids loved more, the giraffes or the meerkats

The giraffes have a HUGE area where they hang out normally, but they had them at the shed to eat, which worked out nicely for us because the kids got a good look at them. Walt kept saying "Wow, Giraffe!"

One of our Thomas the Train books is about a giraffe, so we were sure to read that before bed tonight and talk about all the animals the kids saw
