The last few days have been challenging. Actually, the last few weeks have been challenging. We've had one kid (or more) be up and down for hours at night time. Then during the day, the kids don't want to nap, even if they are too exhausted to keep their eyes open. On top of that, little things send them into a tailspin of tears and their mood vacillates quickly between overwhelming joy and debilitating despair.
In short, we have three toddlers in the house and it shows. *smile*
You can tell the kids are taking mental leaps and their bodies and minds can't quite process all of the changes quickly enough.
Walter is a busy little boy. A woman mentioned this to me at the store the other day and it seems the most accurate description for him. He wants to know it all. He's always trying to see everything, touch everything, and help with everything. He wants to throw the diapers in the bin after bath. He wants me to lift him up so he can see what's cooking on the stove or in the crockpot. He wants to grab our cups down from the counter to see what's in them. He loves to put away the toys as soon as we take them out. In short, there is lots for him to do all of the time. He loves to climb and is definitely my most brave at the play places and play grounds.
Gordon is talking a mile a minute, at home. They told me he doesn't talk much at the creche, which I find so hard to believe! He is always asking for help or requesting something be brought down and he repeats most words he hears, like he's testing them out on his tongue. He loves music and asks for many pop songs by name (or by his name anyway.) He loves to read and often carries books around like little lovies. He's memorized many of our books and often sits and flips through the pages reading them aloud. Gordon's still a little nervous around heights and stairs and still prefers to get down on his hands and knees to climb or step.
Adele is finally getting over her shyness. She still hides her face when strangers (mostly women) talk to her, but she smiles up at them and giggles at the same time. At the creche, I hear she's become quite the communicator. At home, she loves to sing and often sings to herself when playing or in her crib. She also loves to get her brothers involved in songs and games, often calling them by name. Of course, she also gets super frustrated with them and screams at them, too. She's been working a lot on her climbing and stair-work, though she still prefers to have a handhold, even for little steps.
