Movin' on up!

Yesterday, Oct 21st, was a very big day for the Berube babies. They moved out of their big, bulky warming-pan beds into bassinet style cribs. We still have (practically) a whole side of one bay to ourselves, but the amount of space they take up is so much less.

As of yesterday, the babies were taking anywhere from 1/2 to all of their feeds by bottle! And their weights are all up. I forgot to write them down, so I may be off by an ounce or two.

Walter was about 4lb 5ozs
Gordon was about 5lb 4 ozs
Adele was about 4lbs 14 ozs

Anyway, here is Adele in her new crib and a very cute outfit!
The next two pics of Gordon and Walter are when they were still in the warming beds, but I wanted to get photos of them in the adorable sleepers.
Here's Gordon:
And Walter, my little, monkey with his monkey feet.
Here's Daddy feeding Gordon. He's so patient when feeding the kiddos. Much more patient than Mommy. LOL!
And here's me snuggling/burping Walter post-feeding.
The next steps for the babies is to take their full feeds from bottles, which should happen soon (possibly within the week, though it could be longer). Once they are taking full feeds from bottles, they must do this for 3 consecutive days and the docs will remove the feeding tubes. Once the feeding tubes are removed, the babies must continue to eat full feeds for 2-3 more days while putting on weight every day. Then the staff will do a car seat breathing test and the babies get sent home. Usually they'll come home separately because different babies will hit the milestones at different times. And, of course, other things can go on to slow their progress, but this is the path they have to follow in general.

Grow, babies, grow!

  1. Sounds like your mom will be arriving at the perfect time for the first one to come home, hopefully.

  3. Rosemary -- that would be great timing! *Fingers crossed* but I'm not getting my hopes up.

T-- *blush* Thank you! I had my 2 week check-up yesterday and my doc was amazed (but not worried) about my quick weight drop -- over 35 lbs!

  4. Woot! Well you did have lots of babies and their attendant... um... extra everything. Also I'm guessing you had some extra water weight too and that all goes quickly once the babies come.

I could tell from the pics before the babies were born that you didn't add much over and above the baby weight.

  6. T -- And a lot of what I did add came off at the hospital between the bedrest and the gestational diabetes diet. It all shifted to the belly. LOL!

Betty -- Thanks!! We're trying. I'm getting excited as we get closer to bringing them home every day.
