Walter - 1:41pm, 3lb 10oz, 17.52"
Gordon - 1:42pm, 4lb 7oz, 18.31"
Adele - 1:43pm, 4lb 3oz, 17.91"
Walter was pulled out, butt first, and started crying immediately. I couldn't see him yet around the sheet, but the sound brought tears to my eyes. The nurse brought him around for a quick 'hello' to Jeff and I before whisking Walter next door for assessment and cleaning. Gordon quickly followed the same path - out, cry, hello, and next door. Adele was the same, except when she came out, every doctor and nurse in the room "Awwwed".
Walter was brought back into the room as I was being stitched up. He was swaddled tight and I got a quick snuggle with him before he was taken upstairs to the NICU Jeff went next door to watch them work on first Gordon, then Adele, who needed a little more time with the respiratory therapist. Jeff came with the NICU team as they wheeled Gordon & Adele back into the O.R. where I got a quick 'pet' before they were taken upstairs also.
I was then taken to recovery and then back to L&D where I was kept on bedrest for 24 hours so they could pre-emptively treat my preeclampsia/kidney issue with an magnesium drip. It was no fun, but I survived and was finally able to go up and see my babies today, Oct 5 around 3:30pm.
I visited with Walter first where I also met the nurse who was taking care of Walter and Adele. She explained everything they were doing, including the various sensors and monitors. At some point, Walter had his eyes open and was looking around. I started to talk to him and he turned his head to look right at me. My wide-eyed little boy.
.Thank you for your continued prayers. The babies look great now, but they are still very premature and the NICU is a bumpy ride.
How wonderful. I'm sure that you were so thankful to be able to spend more time touching them and talking to them. You will continue to be in our prayers.

Aw - such sweeties. I think I adore Gordon all rolled up in a little baby ball. As always - prayers for their continued growing and getting stronger time. While they are doing that, you concentrate on getting healed up and all ready for them to come home.
ReplyDeleteThey are wonderful! Roberto and I got to see them today and my heart got all warm and fuzzy and I was like ok Ledda don't cry because you are going to have to fix your mascara and have to go thru the whole scrubbing process again :)
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to hold them and get my baby fix. Walter and Gordon have a lot of hair, Adele had a nice hat with a bow on it that the nurses made for her, Joey you have to keep those. She is beatiful!
Titi Ledda :)
Aw-w-w-w great pictures. Can hardly wait to get there to help you take care of them. What beautiful babies--you and Jeff did good. Get yourself strong and the NICU will get the babies strong. Love you Mom
ReplyDeleteYay! They look like babies and everything! Sooo glad to know everybody is launched and on their way. (A minute between each one? Those docs work fast.) We'll keep the healing thoughts coming.
ReplyDeleteAwww indeed! Of course Walter responded to your voice ... when not kicking and punching his siblings, he's been listening to your voice for 7+ months.
ReplyDeleteThought about you this afternoon while we were up at Doernbecher for Daniel's checkup, and chatted with the mom of a preemie who is now 6 weeks old. Ahh, the memories!
We'll be waiting to hear estimates of when you can go home (or at least get wheeled out to a courtyard for fresh air!) and how the babies are progressing. Rest up, mom!
Shirley
Oh Joey, they're so beautiful! I'm so happy for you and Jeff. I can't wait to meet them all.
ReplyDeleteDear Joey & Jeff--
ReplyDeleteThanks for the pictures. They are all beautiful little ones. We're keeping them in our prayers and hope that their homecoming will be soon and their time in NICU uneventful. Love to you all.

ReplyDeleteAwww - babies! So glad it all went well - and they look really good. Time to rest up and take care of you for a while now - you did the cooking, let the baby chefs finish them off while you recover. You'll have them home keeping you up all night in no time. :))
ReplyDeleteLove, Jay.
Amazing photos and beautiful, healthy babies. Cute, cute and cute! We are so glad everything has gone well. Hope you feel better fast and get to spend lots of time with your sons and daughter.
ReplyDeleteWish we could all just reach out and pick up every one of them and hug them. Take care and enjoy. Congratulations again.
