Last night I had my first scare with a high blood pressure (148/70), but luckily my OB (Dr Gooch) was around and had the nurse re-take the pressure manually. Only 10 minutes had passed, but my BP was down to 117/60. I guess man-made measurements are more accurate than the machine when it comes to BP. Who knew? This morning it was back up to 135/70, but that again was with the machine. I might have to talk to Dr Gooch about changing the order to always taking it manually.
In other news, my Maternal Fetal Medicine (high risk) doctor, Dr Barry, stopped by last night to check on the babies. With his little traveling sonogram he measured heads, abdomens and femurs. All three are measuring bigger than their current gestation by a few days and they have plenty of fluid and blood flow. Their weights were huge:
Walter - 3lb 1 oz
Gordon - 3lb 5 oz
Adele - 3lb 2 oz
Dr Barry and Dr Gooch spoke and it is looking less likely that I'll be released home for bedrest. They'd prefer to keep me here so they can keep weighing the tradeoff between my health and the babies' health.
Our new goal is to make it to 32 weeks!
Hey there Joey,
ReplyDeleteKeepin' our fingers crossed for you. Take care of yourself and your precious ones. :)
Love,
Chih-Cheh, Joy, and kids
Okay, I got my fingers crossed for 32 weeks. 32... 32... Thirteeee tooooooooo
ReplyDeleteLooks pretty evident that the BP machine they are using for you is not working properly for whatever reason. This means you can safely ignore it and if the nurses have any issues, tell them they need a manual redo before they freak. ;-)
ReplyDeleteJoy & Chih-Cheh -- Thanks!! I'm doing my best to keep these babies going.
ReplyDeleteJessa -- Keep up that chanting! Only 2.5 weeks to go.
T -- It was kind of off and on. My doc decided just to order all manual testing, though, since she said with PIH they usually want the most accurate reading possible. At least now I'm not questioning every reading.
Doing an awesome job cooking those babies, Joey. :)
ReplyDeleteYou need to have a word with them - tell them the importance of 32 weeks and that you'll ground them if they don't behave. ;)
Jay. x
Joey- sounds like you and the docs are taking awesome care of the brood.
ReplyDelete32, 32, 32 weeks.
It will be our mantra here!
Betty
Jay -- Maybe you'll have to fly over here and do that talking to. I'm not sure they are going to listen to me. *grin*
ReplyDeleteBetty -- My docs are awesome. Keep up that chanting. *grin*
I can't use the "automatic" BP cuffs either at least not on my upper arm. When I had my knee done they figured out that they could put it upside down on my lower arm then it was fine.
ReplyDeleteI had you put on the list for prayers at choir last night and Bible study this morning so you are covered.
Aunt Rosemary
Rosemary -- Thank you so much. I just know all the prayers are making a difference. I hope you had a wonderful choir practice! My doc said it was just too important to take chances with the iffiness of the machine. I think my arm size may have something to do with it, too. But that's just me.
ReplyDeleteThinking of you, Jeff and the babies. The babies are all over 3 pounds.... good news!! Hoping you can hang in there until the 32 week mark. They are taking good care of all four of you there. You are doing great! Hugs...
ReplyDeleteMary
Thank you, Mary! I'm still in shock at how well they are measuring. 2+ more weeks, we can do it!
ReplyDeleteDear Joey--
ReplyDeleteYou and the babies are being prayed for at St. James here in Perry, FL, as well. Lots of good people sending them forth.
Love,
Aunt Minge
Minge -- Thank you for the prayers. Every one makes a difference!! My Love to you & Morris.
ReplyDeleteIf I win the lotto tomorrow night, I'll fly over and give them that talk in person. :D
ReplyDeleteJay. x
Jay -- I'm assuming you've bought your lotto ticket, then? I'll be watching for ya!
ReplyDeleteLOL - Yes ma'am, you bet I have!
