Week 24 Pregnancy Update

Today I reached the very important 24 week milestone. If pre-term labor were to occur, the babies are now considered viable to live in the outside world. But we want to keep them in for a while longer! My OB measured my belly at 38weeks and I've put on 40 pounds so far. They didn't measure the babies, but they were all moving in the ultrasound and had great heartbeats. We got some cute photos in the ultrasound and Jeff was able to see Baby "C" (the little girl) grab her foot.

For the ultra sound photos:
Upper Left - Baby B (boy) , facing forward (a little blurry since he's actually facing my back
Upper Right - Baby C (girl)'s little foot
Mid Left - Baby A (boy) facing forward, you can make out the eyes and nose and he's starting to look like an actual newborn vs. a scary alien!
Mid Right - Baby C profile
Lower Right - Baby A's clasped hands

Don't forget to sign the guestbook whenever you stop by!

  1. Yeah, we're gonna go for another 10 weeks... LOL. (easy for me to say). Oddly enough babies don't really gain most of their weight until the last 4 weeks of a normal pregnancy. From now on until they are born, mark it on the calendar and say HOORAY - the babies made another leap and they are another week stronger.

Hang in there kiddo. I want to see an absolute minimum 28 weeks and every week thereafter is gravy, after 30 weeks it's cake, and after 32 it's ice cream with chocolate on top. ;-)

Oh - for those who don't know... in the bad old days before computers... I was an NICU nurse.

  2. It is pretty cool because they have this new swab test they can do. If it is negative, then it is 98% accurate that you will NOT go into labor in the next 2 weeks. My doc did one on me today, just to be extra sure and it was negative. Pretty cool!

My goal is still 36 weeks. That would be amazing.

  4. We're so happy for you. Like Teresa said, at this point, most of the weight is placenta and amniotic fluid and about 4-5# of babies all together.
If you make it to 36 weeks you are going to be officially HUGE!

  5. Rosemary-- I'm going to be GIANT. My OB is loving it. She keeps stressing that she is so happy with the weight I've gained. My knees aren't too happy about it, though.

  6. You and the babies are all doing so well. It will continue that way. They seem content to hang out where they are for a while yet. Those photos are amazing. Your knees will probably be less happy as time goes on, though. Elevated feet are a good thing! Take care.

  7. Mary -- I have my feet elevated even as I type! Of course, my favorite position these days is horizontal. *laugh* Thanks for your confidence. It infuses my own.

  9. Thank you, Charity! You are so sweet. A woman at the grocery store stopped me to tell me how cute I looked pregnant today. I didn't know what to say! LOL!
